Riflesight Notch - 1903
This is Riflesight Notch of the former Denver & Salt Lake RR (D&SL) as it was in 1903 when it was brand new. This used to be a loop to gain elevation with a tunnel which you can see at the bottom of the photo. This route over the pass was abandoned in 1928 when the Moffat Tunnel was completed. This area is presently know as Rollins (Corona) Pass road and is located in Colorado. Compare this photo with the images I took in June of 2006.
